Korean Construction Machines Starting with an Operating Rate of 46% for Year 2009

As the increment of the civil engineering projects and road maintenance, Korean construction machines’ operating rate raised from 2009.  A survey carried out by Korea Construction Machinery Association on 2713 machines covering bulldozers, dump trucks, concrete truck mixers and wheel loaders indicate that the average operating rate in January is 46%, which has a slight increasing of 2.8 percent compared to the corresponding time period.

The Association said, after the winter break, the soaring up of the rate was due to the reconstruction engineer of flood and roads’ maintenance, which resulted to the heavier demand of dump trucks and concrete truck mixers.

Increment of earthmoving projects led to an operating rate of 54.25% for dump trucks, which is the highest among all the machines. Anyway, the other rates are as following;

Concrete truck mixer; 53.24%
Excavator; 50.61%
Crane; 48.56
Drilling machine; 46.09%
Wheel loader; 45.93%
Forklift; 43.86%
Air compressor; 43.59%
Bulldozer; 41.20%
Concrete pump; 39.81%
Road roller; 39.44%

In the view of different regions, the highest rate goes for Kyongsangnamdo, at 64.28%, followed by Kyonggido with a rate of 61.2%. Iangwondo with a rate of 20.48% ranked at the last.
