Reconstruction and expansion of Lagos Expressway to Badagry

The Nigerian government has begun work on the rehabilitation, reconstruction and expansion of the Agbara-seme border section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
 
Mr. Funsho Adebiyi, head of the Southwest Highway, confirmed the reports and stated that the government would rebuild, rehabilitate and expand the various sections of the road, from Agbara to Badagry border station, while Badagry to Seme border station would be repaired.
 
He added that CGC Nigeria Limited, the contractor for the project and the quality building materials to be used had also mobilized construction equipment and materials to a number of locations between Agbara and Badagry, which would help to ensure the durability of the road.
 
Lagos-Badagry Expressway The contractor moved to the scene around November last year but was asked to carry out emergency repairs to allow the road to travel due to heavy traffic over the Christmas period. Now he is back on the scene to carry out a comprehensive construction work, survey work, geotechnical engineering survey has been completed.
 
So, the actual construction work has now begun, "Mr. Addebii said. The director said that some engineers had been permanently stationed on site to ensure the quality assurance of the project, adding that the compaction of imported materials was also being assessed.
An additional lane will be built on the two lanes between Agbara and Badagry.
 
Economic benefits The Federal Highway Maintenance Agency (FERMA) will be responsible for the section between Okokomaiko and Agbara.
 
Mr. Adebiyi confirmed that the procurement process had begun to award contracts.
 
"This project is part of a major project from Lagos to Abidjan, and the Mod is doing its best to speed up the construction of Lagos," added Mr. Adedamola Kuti, Lagos Federal engineering director. The project, which will be completed within 36 months, will help expand the tourism potential of the Axis country's real estate and Badagli axis countries. The economic benefits of the project will be enormous, as it will lead to many higher education institutions along the corridor of the project.
