SINOWAY Amphibious Jack-up Platform Works In Intertidal Zone of South China Sea

The intertidal mudflat area is an important zone connecting the sea and land, with variable geological conditions and complex resource environment, making it difficult for conventional equipment to meet the exploration needs.

SINOWAY SWSC150J amphibious pontoon platform is a multifunctional marine equipment. Its legs can be lowered to the seabed or land, lifting the hull out of the water to form a stable, elevated working platform. It combines the maneuverability of a vessel with the ability to operate on land/shallow water, making it highly suitable for performing tasks such as drilling, construction, or surveying in the intertidal zone with variable tides and terrain. They are capable of operating both afloat (in a floating state) and on land (by lifting to the ground with legs or tracks), which gives them a unique advantage in these complex environments that traditional drilling platforms struggle with.

Advantages

Amphibious mobility: Unlike traditional jack-up rigs, which require towing to designated locations, the SINOWAY SWSC150J amphibious jack-up rig is equipped with heavy-duty tracks, enabling it to move seamlessly on soft ground, swampland, and in shallow waters, bridging the gap between traditional land rigs and water-based platforms.

Stability: Upon arrival at the site, the platform will lower its four legs with large pile legs to the seabed or ground, and then lift the hull above the water surface or ground. This provides a completely stable working platform, unaffected by waves and tides, which is crucial for precision operations.

Modular design: Many devices adopt a modular design, enabling them to be easily loaded into standard containers for transportation and quickly assembled on-site. This is a practical feature for remote or hard-to-reach locations.

Key Uses

Geotechnical engineering investigation: The primary application of these professional, tracked amphibious self-elevating drilling rigs is to conduct detailed on-site investigations. They are highly suitable for areas such as marshland, sediment ponds, and intertidal zones. The platform elevates itself via its 4 legs to create a stable, vibration-free working surface, which is crucial for precise data collection methods like borehole drilling and cone penetration tests (CPT).

Shallow water exploration: While traditional, larger jack-up rigs are widely used for oil and gas development in areas within approximately 150 meters of depth in the South China Sea, smaller amphibious platforms are employed in even shallower "hard-to-access" areas, typically operating from the beach at low tide to a maximum water depth of about 8.0 meters.

Infrastructure projects: The data collected by these platforms supports the development of coastal and offshore infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, ports, and wind farms, by providing essential seabed soil information.

The SINOWAY innovative amphibious jack-up platform can reach the intertidal zone, which is difficult for traditional platforms to access. It is a crucial tool for entering and investigating the complex transitional environment of the South China Sea, where traditional marine or land-based equipment cannot function.
