Perkins new plant to meet the growing of Asian markets

Perkins is set to begin manufacturing its powerful 4000 Series engines in India, following the decision to establish a new $150 million manufacturing plant in India several months ago, The facility is expected to go into production in 2013 and will be based in the Shendra Industrial Area in Aurangabad.

The new plant will be a great addition to Perkins global manufacturing capability and will help Perkins forge even closer ties with her valued Asian OEM customers. Initially the facility will have the capacity to produce around 3,000 engines per year with the capability to increase to 5,000 units.

In line with Perkins’ strategy of manufacturing closer to its customers, the new India plant will serve the growing demand from the Asian markets while the Stafford facility will concentrate on supplying customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and South America.

Perkins has grown to become the leading supplier of diesel engines and gas engines in the 4-2000 kW (5-2600 hp) market. For more than 70 years Perkins Engines Company Limited has manufactured diesel engines and power solutions with the highest levels of skill and deal service.
