Self-propelled Jack Up Barge Successfully Passed Stability Tests in Offshore Environment

SINOWAY SWSC150J small jack up barge has passed stability test in the East China Sea, which confirms its readiness for operations like offshore construction, sampling and geological exploration drilling by demonstrating its ability to maintain stability and safety while elevated on its legs. This successful completion of stability tests is crucial for the vessel's deployment, ensuring it can provide a secure and stable platform above the waves, unaffected by sea conditions, which is essential for the safety and efficiency of complex offshore projects.

In the coastal engineering construction of ports, bridges, wind power, coastal defense, etc., the areas where geological survey is required must involve mudflat or intertidal zone. Intertidal zone - refers to the intertidal areas between the highest and lowest tide levels, characterized by being submerged during high tide and exposed during low tide. The soil is usually loose, with low bearing capacity, and is mostly composed of fine sand and silty clay. The existing mudflat survey usually adopts: 1) ship borne survey platform, which uses the rising tide to enter the beach area for grounding operation, and then uses the next rising tide to withdraw the ship. The survey operation is subject to the time of rising and falling tide and the draft of the ship. 2) The construction of fixed operation platform involves repeated construction, demolition and relocation, which is time-consuming, labor consuming and low efficient, and will affect the ecological environment of mudflat or tidal zone. In addition, there are also exploration blind areas where roads cannot be repaired and vehicles cannot enter at the water land junction of the lowest tide level or muddy mudflat area.

In order to solve the above problems, SINOWAY has designed and manufactured the SWSC150J- a special type of mobile offshore drilling unit.

SINOWAY SWSC150J jack up barge utilizes tracks for movement and positioning, particularly in shallow, swampy, or marshy areas, or for intertidal zone. Unlike traditional jack-up barge, this amphibious design allows for drilling operations in various terrains, including challenging environments like swampland, coastal areas, inland waters, or even tunnels, by providing a stable and elevated work platform.

Advantages of SINOWAY SWSC150J:

1. Crawler Undercarriage:

Mobility

The crawler tracks provide excellent mobility and traction, allowing the platform to navigate in both swamp area and the shallow water.

Stability

The wide track base offers stability during drilling operations, especially when working on sloped surfaces or in areas with limited space.

Self-Propelled

SWSC150J are with self-propelled system, meaning they can move themselves to and from drilling locations and no need for tugs to move the platform or to set up on location.

2. Self-Elevating System:

Jacking Legs

These platforms typically feature hydraulic jacking legs with foot to elevate the platform to the desired working height. And these spud legs can be retracted when it travels in the swampland or in the water in order to ensure the safety of barge’ movement.

Stability

The jacking system provides a stable and level platform for drilling or other construction activities, even when the surrounding terrain is uneven or sloped.

3- Versatility:
The combination of crawler mobility and self-elevating capability makes these platforms suitable for a wide range of applications in diverse environments.
For example, SWSC150J can be as a transporter which transports equipment between marsh area and islands in mangrove areas where there are no landing docks.
Applications:

Geotechnical Drilling

Used for soil and rock sampling, site investigations, and foundation analysis.

Mining

Drilling blast holes, exploration drilling, and other mining-related operations.

Construction

Foundation drilling, pile driving, and other construction activities in challenging environments.
