Liberia will build 50 km of coastal highway

The Government of Liberia and the Government of Liberia, the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (EBID), have signed a loan agreement of $50m for the construction of coastal highways.

Flomo, deputy finance minister for economic management, the loan is expected to be used to finance the 50 km highway between Barclayville-Klowne and Sustown in the southeastern corridor. The Minister reiterated the Government's commitment to road development, and reiterated that its primary task was infrastructure development and that the key was road construction. The southeastern Highway Corridor from Buchanan, Grand Bassa County to Grand Cru County is considered a "landmark road project". The project will provide apprenticeship training for vulnerable youth in urban areas and support road upgrading and value chain growth using effective public works and community-driven development approaches, especially in rural areas. The project will also improve the efficiency of cash transfers to target families, including youth.
